Our breeding strategy is to avoid all extremes and select for the optimum level of every trait. After doing this for 20 years we have a cow herd of fertile 1200# mature cows with good udders and good dispositions as well as enough fleshing ability to survive the South Dakota winter's and breed back every year. Other things we select for are longevity, mothering ability, maternal calving ease, and weaning 50% of their own body weight.
